Not sure if this is the right place to put this but....BBC News
A very big slap on the wrist there  . But then is $300m a lot for companies these days?
Is no one in the Samsung company responsible? Any sackings or retirements over this. And it apperas something similar is going on with them in Korea too.

Should have had all profits made during the period taken off them.
Samll change like you say. Same as MS and their lawsuits.

Yet if it was me or you who did something wrong (Say backing up a DVD), they would probably take everypeeny you have and will earn in the next 10 years off you and throw you in jail.

How are billions calculated? I thought in the US (i.e $'s) a billion is a thousand million? $300m would be nearly a third. Or is it 10,000 million. Whatever, still not a big loss.

A billion is a thousand million.
The UK also officially uses the same x1000 factor these days.
I guess [1 million x 1 million] would , therefore, be a trillion.

Some of the directors at a few of the companies are facing possible charges that could result in prison terms.

All seems a big fuss over nothing to me..?

Price fixing - who cares? It's been happening in every industry for years... just not by arrangement.

If they'd have been a bit smarter, they'd simply have re-invented DRAM specifications every 2 years, and trebled the price accordingly... :D

Price fixing would be a good thing based on what the rest of the computer industry is doing?

How much was your latest graphics card, and how much was the one before that?
How much was last years Sky subscription, and how much the one before?
how much does a mars bar cost these days, compared to a few years back?

The only people who got shafted by Samsung price fixing were the PC manufacturers...?

a billion, in the UK, used to be a million million, and has always been 1000 million in the US. to avoid confusion, and because we seem to brown nose america :boring: we have adopted the 1000 million one. its so more people can be billionaires :D
