I have recently bought a samsung dvdr100 with the intention of recording home movie footage on to disc via the DV link.

You can edit DVD-Ram & -RW discs to remove un wanted footage etc but when you do this it will not play on an external DVD player as it is recorded in VR mode.

When you record in v mode you can play this back on a different DVD player but cannot edit.

Is there a way of editing a disc and still being able to play it on another DVD player as it seems silly to be able to edit discs but not play them in the future should you replace / upgrade your unit?

If you have a PC with a DVD burner why not try the 'DVD-RAM to DVD-R conversion' process suggested in my signature?
