Anyone have any thoughs on the Samsung DVD-HD945, main points for me are the HDMI interface as I plan to get a projector with one soon , the on board Faroudja DCDI Upscaling chip and the fact that it plays Divx, it also does dvd audio and sacd and has on board DD and DTS. Ohh yeah it also looks pretty cool with a white LED display.

It can be found here:- http://www.samsung.co.uk/cgi-bin/ec...t/DVD+Player/Hypervision&prodID=DVD-HD945/XEU

Also it is out Nov 8th and is about £158 which sounds a bargain especially with the Onboard Faroudja. (means I can input 720p in to my projector.

    Cheers
    Robert.

    Hi

Thats a pretty extensive list..... This player will no doubts, do well.
The previous models were highly praised with all, even at 3 x the price it would have been praised. I would imagine finding stock will be your challenge! Make a post if you do.
Regarding the DivX, I just cannot figure the fuss. Why would anyone want to project a lowly image onto a tv, let alone a big PJ image. It kinda defeats the AV ETHOS of using the force to find true enlightenment and intergalactic PQ!

Digi-UK say they have ordered "plenty" so once they have stock (again they say 8th November on their web site) people should start getting hold of them.

I too am interested but I need mine to output NTSC and PAL via HDMI. I also want confirmation the HDMI works with a PIO 434 HDE Plasma, and if thats not enough I also need the player to be multi-region, chipped or handset hacked no issue.

Once people start getting theirs I'd be very grateful if you could post any information pertinent to my questions. Thanks very much.

The review of the Samsung HD935 (the predecessor) in Home Cinema Choice states that the region hack is "With disc tray empty, but closed press 'repeat' on the remote handset followed by 57538. The current region will be displayed on screen. Press 9 for region-free playback".

Hopefully this will work with the new HD945, or their new review may tell you the hack when published.... once someone actually gets one can they please report back as I want the DVI output but also a multi-region player.

    Thanks

    Neil

    Hi

HDCP is i suppose the digital equivalent to analogues macro-vision and that can and has been disable. But ive not heard of any players or output monitors having this disabled yet but im sure someone on this forum must have done it!!!

Hi, I'm new to all this DVI/HDMI stuff. I've recently just fot Panasonic PT-AE700 Projector and I am thinking of getting this DVD Player because of the the HDMI output (which would directly feed into the HDMI input of AE700). Would HDCP affect me? Would I be able to upscale and view DVD's such as Lord of The Rings, Gladiator, Shrek and other new DVD's. Any Help would be appreciated. Thanks

    FYI

There was a previous thread on this forum by someone from france who opened up one these (945) and it was not a faroudja but a Zoran vaddis processor.

That must of been a 745 with that processor i belive this is what the 745 has.
Stated on samsung site that this not the case else we shoudl get refunds! Im sure digiuk had stated they had the faroudja chipset. Please check the site else its against the law! im sure, so why worry. there has been over 60 orders at digiiuk i believe and loads of players have been sold already or sorry shipped. another batch this friday. I called them at 5pm today had another 6 left to sell from the 40 coming in. they have great links with samsung hence they get it first. BE-direct f up and they are getting them 3 weeks later i heard as my order was cancelled and luckily ordered with Digiuk.

Anyone got their Player YET! tell us about it Please.

    Take a look here:
    http://www.homecinema-fr.com/forum/...r=asc&start=360

This is an extract from a previous post entitled

"Samsung Hd945 Dvd Player" on this forum - the contributions on this thread are worth reading if you're considering this player. 'Introid' also gives an opinion of the 945's performance.

My guess is they put Faroudja on the website and later in the process, Samsung ended up using a different chipset, the Zoran Vaddis, which was never corrected, for instance on Samung's UK website.

Btw., does anyone know how good this Zoran Vaddis chip is? I know Faroudja is often the preferred brand but I know Arcam uses Zoran chips in their much more expensive players, so it can't be all bad?

Good point, if you go to zoran's website it appears that that they go in a across a wide price range of products.

I wish Samsung would just be honest about the release date. Digi-UK told me the end of this week/beginning of next week. I really hope that hasn't changed.
