hi all. have been thinking about getting this Samsung tv all the shops seem to be offerin it at around 900 pounds. is the 680 the same as the 680gs that amazon are currently selling as I have read the 680 from comet has older components for example no freeview hd built in? any recommendations for this set as I currently have a 3 year old 37 inch lg lcd presume any faults will far out weigh the benefits that have happened in the last 3 years in the world of tv? also not found much on this set on the internet so if anyone has found anything interesting please post

    It's the same tv.

The full code for the tv is ps50c680G5KXXU, but most just quote the 1st part of the model number.

    Hope this helps.

ohh ,ps ,as far as I'm aware ,they all have the Freeview HD built in....mine does ,and im in Ireland where theres no Freeview ,nevermind HD.

that makes sense i would have asked in store because im sure they can look at the box out the back just seen alot of different bits of these sets on the net as it has suddenly become very popular since its been on offer in every shop. debating whether the tv is too big though as i only sit roughly 100 incches from the screen

about 7 foot roughly. i have done already and it ranges from 1.5 times the screen size to about 4 times the screen size depending on whether you go with THX distance or 'old' tv viewing distances from before lcd and plasmas went main stream

i did try that but as they have crammed as many tv's in as they can its hard to get 3 foot away let alone 7-8 and still be able to see the set, will try a few other stores though.

oh right, the one i was in it was next to another one so i could roughly stand back and guage it.

also FWIW if you decide to buy, i would recommend john lewis as you'll get a 5 year warranty free.

i went into currys and their warranty is £260 they would knock £40 tops off of it!!!!! why get a years warranty when you can get 5 :)

even the currys guy said to me that he'd go to john lewis..... at least he was honest. i thought for sure that currys would throw the warranty in to get a sale, but ho-hum
