Wow, sure looks sexy. To my eyes the silver speaker grill along the bottom of the R41 series used to spoil their look somewhat. The way these have a more solid and sleeker silver bottom edge makes it look perfect to me. Anymore pics and info? Do you know the pricing of the 40" model?

8ms and 1 HDMI... This is the same as the M-series... Why not upgrading them??

As these are labelled "R" I'm guessing they're still going to sit under the M series (hence the low price tag)

I think (and hope) that the M61 is still the flagship and most likely its replacement will be a different screen and have more HDMI connections

Looking at my 2 LCD sets now, it almost seems pointless buying any of them now. It seems worth waiting for sets that support at least 1080i and have at least 2 HDMI sockets. My reasoning for this is because there isn't exactly a mad rush for a HD set as the availablity of HD material is very restricted and once SKY HD starts up, the likelihood of having an HDMI dvd player and SKY HD will be quite high and then we'll be forced to juggling around with cables.

Crave over at Cnet has some details on these TVs adn they are an upgrade to the R series. They mention a 6ms response time, 5000:1 contrast ratio, improved visual look (hiding of speakers and finish) a 'game' setting to help you get the best out of xbox 360 or console gaming and a few other bits and pieces.

I bottled out of buying the R4 32" model due to a few issues but the 32" R7 is in my targets, just waiting for a review to make sure its better and hopefully grab one of them babies with April pay packet. :)

Looked on a few sites and the RRP for the 32" is only £850, i guess none of these details are solid till they hit the street but hopefully they will get good reviews.

It's built by Samsung! That's unfair to be honest as Phillips seem to be just as bad as far as reliability goes....

The BDX does not stand for Bordeaux, the B is for Britain, D is for digital tuner, X is for ???

These TVs are just new versions of the Rome series TVs

Perhaps these are not going to be out for a while, I couldn't find anything in Google for 26R74BDX.

If these new models are 8ms response, what are the R41 models - 16ms ?
Also, is is right that the M51/M61 models don't have freeview tuners?

    Cheers !

That's right, the R41s are 16ms and the M51/61 are all freeviewless

Someone mailed Samsung and they said it was 8ms. Whatever it is I have never noticed any blur/trail on things like football, motor racing ect.

No different to a CRT that I can spot in this regard, so I think 6/8/12ms are much of a muchness, just makes the spec look good.

I am desperately wanting a white LE40R74BDX, called Samsung customer service and they said that it wassn't confirmed yet. Whether this is true or not is another thing. They couldn't give me a definitive answer, but I cant wait anymore as I'm desperate to get a lcd. Worst case scenario, I get another lcd and a week layer the white LE40R74BDX launches. Can anyone advise as the response from Samsung was dodgy. I dont trust that answer as the guy didn't sound sure of himself. Please advise.

The white one would be called LE40R7xW

Here in Holland there is only a white 32 inch scheduled. no 40 inch.

My advice is hang fire just a little bit more. I'm in the same boat as you, and very nearly commited to a M61 just a couple of weeks ago. Glad I waited now, (even tho M61 is a cracking tv!);)

I spoke to Samsung and they advised the same thing. In the UK, no specs or release dates have been confirmed for the R7 range although Play.com and several others have these TVs becoming available in the next couple of weeks (No news on the white ones however). BUT the sales rep I spoke too was quite free with her infomation, and when I said I almost committed 2 grand to the M61 she told me to wait as several other models were also going to be released in the 2nd quarter of this year.

My understanding from this conversation and other threads is the M41 & M51 is being replaced by the R7 range. (Which is available in several guises such as freeview included freeviewless, black, white frame etc) and a new as yet unnumbered range? (R8 or M71????) range will replace the M61. This will replace their flagship model..... When I asked her if this would have a contrast ratio of 6000:1 and 2 HDMI sockets, she couldn't confirm but she implied it would....?? :smashin:

In summary :lesson: - I'd just hang on a little while longer. I think it'll all become much much clearer by the end of May.
