Samsung Bluray player issue

I have a Samsung BD-J7500 connected via HDMI to my Onkyo AV receiver. Up to now it worked just fine but now I noticed that once in a while the screen goes blank as if there was no connection whatever, and in order to get it restarted I have to turn off both the AVR and the Bluray player and then turn them back on. The HDMI connections are solid so do you think my Samsung player is damaged? Any other possibilities?
I know it is not the AVR because when I use it with other devices this does not happen

No, as in a different lead in case the one you're using is intermittently faulty.

Yes, you've got to try it first before suspecting anything else.
I will, but something tells me that this has something to do with the BD player itself. Ever since I bought it I noticed thatt it will take it a while to read the source and switch to the appropiate mode (bluray, DVD, 3D, streaming)...Sometimes it lingers for almost 30 seconds searching and searching before finally hitting the mark
