The new samsung blu ray players has anybody bought one yet. I am interested in the BDD7000 after buying a panasonic 310 and being disappointed the picture was not as good as my old samsumg blu ray player and I believe because its aimed at reproducing 3D best and not 2D.

Got mine this morning, fire away with questions! I do not use my players much as have everything ripped to .iso but am happy to help where I can so the more specific you can be the better.

Will say though that it is tiny and looks great. Played a couple of 3D movies to test and they looked fine. The only thing still missing is a resume function (as far as I can find) so if you stop or power down the disc plays from the beginning again.

Hi

Did you own a samsung before or another make, how does PQ measure up to your player before.

Strange it doesn't remember the last place on the disc because my sammy 2500 does but it might be just a firmware update to add the feature.

In the specs it says 3 second load time, is it really that fast.

The panny is a nice player but I think as the players have got smaller the PQ has decreased.

Yeah have/had the 6900. The PQ does seem better but as I really only have it for backup as play all my BD and 3DBD via my PC so cannot give a definate on that one. However Casino Royale does look better than I remember as I tested it a few months ago when I got my 46D8000.

It does remember the last place on disc but not on all discs, the first couple I tried were 3D and for some reason did not remember the position on these. But it does state that it may not remember all discs (they are originals not copies)

It does load fast and much faster than the 6900 but I think the 3 Seconds probably refers to it sucking in the disc. Testing Casino Royale it took round 35 seconds from the player starting to suck up the disc to the movie starting to play, this included selecting the play icon etc... With the disc in and powering on, it resumes playback from where left off in around 15 seconds.

There also seem to be more options with the D7000 re. picture settings, audio settings etc....

Overall very happy with it, if you are looking for one, shop around as the prices differ by around £100 depending where you look.

Can it be made region free for DVD like the 5900 ? .... the 6900 could not so this is a sale loser for me if not possible :lesson:

Early days yet, I have tried the 6900 hack but without success so far. As they have just been released will have to wait and see if any actually exist and if they work. It would be nice to be able to make it region free but not an issue for me as I only use it as a backup. If anything should walk through the door that it cannot play it would just go through my Media Centre.
