So i bought a Samsung PS60F5500 60 inch 3D Smart TV and i love it.
previous to buying this i watched a lot of films and shows from a USB stick in my blue ray player, however it only played Divx, so was excited for the new TV
A friend plays his files straight from his PC over wifi, i couldnt wait to try it.

So i installed Samsung link on my PC and shared a folder.
TV connected... and played for a few minutes, then [Device Disconnected]
This happens all the time, it sees the files and i browse them, as soon as i play it now disconnects?
VERY frustrated... been trying all day now.
    I m using a BT home hub 5, wired to a PC
The TV is wireless (built in to TV)

BT Home Hub 5 is known to have some issues with DLNA the tech that makes media playback from PC possible, what Samsung brands as Allshare, now it might not be that but it is a possibility.

Step1: Ditch Samsung link, remove from PC.

Step 2: Download Mezzmo DLNA server demo and install.

Step 3: Test with Mezzmo and see if it works, if it does and all is fine then I would suggest buying it though there are other free options.

But we need to see if it is a software DLNA server problem or something else first so try Mezzmo and see first if it works.

Well i have now got Windows Media Player/Centre in on the act too... dont ask me how but after several attempts and trip from PC to TV
I pressed source on the TV and saw a windows logo and my PC??? (was never there before) i clicked it and could see all my files... more then what i shared with Samsung link.
    They played fine lol
So i think you are right... Samsung are good at hardware, but crap at software lol
Think i will still try Mezzmo at some point, ive seen than name pop up many times while researching this problem
    Thanks for your reply :)

Serviio is also a free option.

Windows media player has more limited media support than Serviio or Mezzmo.
