Perhaps someone could help me out with a technical query?

I have an infocus X1 projector that has faroudja etc. I am interested in purchasing a 935 to obtain pal 720p playback (notwithstanding the 60Hz issue). I understand from various posts on the avsforum that the picture quality when using identical deinterlacers in a projector and dvd player will be marginally better from the latter (plus the attraction of 720p).

If I use a DVI to VGA cable (the X1 has no DVI port) will I get 720p or does the absence of a digital "handshake" between the projector and dvd player preclude this? I have read mixed reports in both this forum and avsforum - some say it will output fine others say I will get no signal at all.

    Thanks in advance

PS If I can't do this then I may decide to buy the Brainwave instead. Can anyone recomend a good place to buy? I couldn't find it on the Cyber something german website.
