Samsung 8K Q950R QLED Owners and Discussion Thread

just joined the group - i can see the convo - we'll have to wait and see if its valid - too many false dawns with eARC
Yeah, I know. But I also have talked to this guy quite a lot. And if he says he got the info from Samsung official product support specialists, I know he isn't lying. But you're right. It seems not even the seemingly most trustworthy Samsung personnel always gets it right. I'm "Peter Lindblad" in the conversation by the way. 😊

I play 8k with Q950R just fine from USB with external USB hard drive. But if you find a way to play them from YouTube, sure, that's fine.

I've been having really bad display flickers over the last few weeks. Is anyone else experiencing this, where the screen flickers on certain scenes, in particular scenes containing suits/material with very small lines on people. Or whilst gaming and moving around the edges of the screen blur up and flicker badly. I've also noticed the screen has become darker on some shows that never used to be dark.

no nothing like that - just big buyers regret that i bought this model without eARC !

Repair company said it looks like a faulty display. They've ordered the part to replace the whole TV screen. Has anyone else received another display panel?

Hi ,
My 6 month old 82 950r has just gone wrong ,just turned off with led light flashing Samsung approved repairman came and took a look and has order a new panel anyone else had the same problem and was it resolved ?
as obviously I’m not very happy that the best 2019 tv Samsung make has developed such a huge fault.

It's crazy how these TVs are failing so early on. The replacement panel as well looks refurbished so not new and was made in Vietnam, whereas the (inside sticker been ripped off and lots of scribbles in the panel inside) other panel was made in Slovakia.

The issue I had still hasn't resolved and the replacement panel has actually made it worse. They are going to change the main system board on the panel and one connect cable next time, but I got a feeling it's a faulty one connect box.

Feel so gutted after spending such a large amount of money and receiving such bad quality. Anyone got any tips on what to do next if the issue isn't resolved?

That’s mad ,Have you asked for a replacement I take it’s still in warranty, who did you buy from, the repair man I spoke to says it’s very unlikely to ever be a one connect box as they don’t go wrong!!
I will see what happens with my panel if it’s not brand new I will be complaining as you say we’ve spent so much money on this flagship model

@whitehart My HDfury AVR Key is working perfectly :)

And that means you want 48gbps bandwidth as opposed to 18gbps, to do what exactly? To do better than to achieve a 4K picture at 60 FPS or an 8K picture at 30 FPS? I know that HDMI 2.1, on the other hand, promises 4K resolution at 120 FPS, 8K resolution at 60 FPS, and a ceiling that will ultimately support 10k - whoopee! And precisely where do we see that content? Don'tget me wrong but HDMI 2.0b does what I need - to split the video and sound and all HD sound. Unfortunately eARC will not pass the DTS HD formats due to licencing, which convinced me not to wait for this inferior option to get off my new media player, HDR10+ video and all HD sound.

Of course, for audio purposes 2.1 and eARC is not really a must. For audio you can get around the problem with a good new avr.

For video however, and mostly gaming,4k@120Hz and 8k@60 Hz will actually make a matter in games, at least when they eventually support it more frequently in the future. Fortunately, this TV has one 2.1-port already.

It's been a massive learning curve since buying this TV. I don't do gaming but if I did, I'd be doing it on a dedicated monitor. This TV is excellent but as and when Amazon and Netflix start streaming HD sound (probably not for years) I'll rue not having eARC. September is over in just over 24 hours and still no eARC - bet my Hdfury AVR Key, gets a firmware upgrade to HDMI 2.1 first haha!

Well, glad that you seem happy. I'm quite comfortable with my Yamaha RX-V6A, 3 HDMI 2.1 ports and so many ins and outs, features and future proof support of everything one can need, so I will pass on the Hdfury. 😁😉

if anyone wants to buy one of these superb TV's i found them at super low price on amazon - even lower than what i paid
