    Hi,
    LED backlighting that's the difference.
And really, what a difference.Instead of Cold Cathode Florescent strip lighting behind the Lcd panel, the 786 has 640 individual LED's.So when they are on they can be very bright and when they're off,its black, nothing, dark.
the graduations in between seem better as well, the result is better colours no backlight bleed,no grey area's and excellent blacks.with a bit of calibration,(I followed the settings in the 780 series thread)the result is,in my view, brilliant.

Manufacturers are well known for their sometimes outlandish claims for contrast ratio's.
They claim the 786 to be 2000,000 .1 obvious nonsense. However, when the technicians at Home Cinema Choice calibrated and retested the actual contrast ratio the result was 223,864.1. considering that my last set,the M87 had an actual contrast ratio of approx 350.1 you can see why the pictures are so good.

See if you can audition one.

    Good Luck,

    KH

Best to enter the model number on Google.
A quick search reveals prices around the £860 mark for the Le40 an around £1165 for the Le46.
I believe that they're a bit hard to get at the moment though.
