I've been looking into the dlp rear projection and this one springs to mind simply because of the cost and features..

has anyone bought one of these and can give any review on it ?..

look forward to hearing about it, price wise range from £2,500 down to cheapest so far £1,725

hi, urm i think the place i saw it for that price was avwow.com..

onyl just started looking online yesterday for it and still need some more searching..

is it true that once the brightness gets poor that you can simply change the bulb and all things become good again, if so how much is a replacement bulb ??..

looks like i'm swayed to buy one of these now just a case of a little bit more research and popping into a few more shops that stock it and looking and asking some questions about it..

At my Brittain and Hobbs they do 12 months interest free and they have Samsung and Toshiba. However, high street only so the price is not as good as online stores. I think they're something to do with Euronics or something?....

One has the fixed centre pedestal which doubles as a stand as well as containing the electronics and optics, and the other is more like a conventional TV set with a normal stand that you can choose to use or not.

Look at a pic of the Samsung SP46 - this is just a slightly smaller version of the SP50L6HX.

On this thread is noted that the 7HX has a HD2+ chip and the 6HX has the HD4
    link
It suggests the 7HX has a slightly higher contrast ratio as well as the rather striking pedestal stand.
The SP50L6HX would be quite a buy (seen it for £1440-ish at Robertsons) but not seen it anywhere else and no idea when it will be available. I've recently purchased the Sp46L6HX...though it's taking 2 weeks to get here..ho hum.

The SP-50L6HR uses the HD3 chip. This is available in the Philippines. I think this is the same model, named SP-50L6HX found in other asian countries such as Singapore and Malaysia.

the 7x is far better pq!! i have one and its amazing as long as you spend the doe on gud quality wires!!! One minor prob is that any defects in the picure. eg copied dvds (of course i dont have any) any imperfections are amplified.

Given that the 6x has yet to make an appearance in the shops, let alone undergone comparison testing, what are you basing this conclusion on Kurt?

ok i've definitly made me decision to buy one now

my only problem is where to buy and looking for a best price... but weighing up the cost, John Lewis allways offer a 5 year warrenty so it may be worht paying the little extra for the warrently (john lewis price is £2,399, maybe with a price match which costco selling it at around £1,999 might be worth it with the 5 year warrenty)

i know that the price matching has to be from a shop rather than any online place which they won't price match on..
anyone else got any better ideas ??..

i've ordered mine yesterday, should be delivered on monday so will be looking forward to that.., got itfrom john lewis in the end for a price match against costco, also i get five years cover instead of three :), looked into the cover to buy alnoe which would cost £299 for four years (plus one year extra manufactures) so even if i bought at pixmania for £1,728 i'd still be paying more with the cover to pay on top..

getting excited now and can't wait !..

I have now finally decided to get an SP50. Went to Comet . £2,499 in store. On line it drops to £2,199 . Saw it on line at Currys for £1,824. Rang Comet who , under their price watch arrangement have agreed to supply for £1,786 this price being 10% less than the difference.
I asked about the shelves ( for the pedestal model ) which Comet claimed never to have heard of . I rang Samsung who said that the shelves came as standard with the telly. Rang Comet and told them and they then rang me back to say that this was in fact correct . So I will tomorrow order the SP50 , on line from Comet at £1,786 complete with the shelf unit . What a bloody performance !

Great price for that set mate!

Comet are much more reliable than Currys too, especially when it comes to after sales service.
