Sorry to start a new thread but had a specific question.

I want the get the 32" R88 from Dixons (best price by far) by as getting the panel type is a lottery, can anyone else who has bought one from Dixons report which panel they received?

    Thanks

:hiya: I've just ordered my LE32R88 from dixons online (only about 250 quid cheaper than in store!!!) and i'll let you know the panel type when it arrives.

The set i looked at instore had a C panel but TBH it looked god damn stunning and i really couldn't see any difference between it and the larger sets that had S panels.

Thanks David. I am thinking the same thing. Fantastic price on Dixons! When are you getting it delivered?

Look forward to hearing the panel result

I looked at one in curry's and it had a C panel i think... to be honest its only a tv for the bedroom wall so not that bothered about the panel type etc - was more intent with keeping her indoors sweet.
But if you guys wanna know then i will let you know whatever you need to ....

I have ordered from Dixons today..

Only £507 ish delivered with voucher code/egg/quidco cashback :D

didnt specify a delivery time as missus is off all week....so 5 working days here i come

"5 Working Days" is as accurate as i can get it at the moment. But with how impatient i am even 1 working day would be too long! ;)

    Hi

Ordered mine from Dixons online on 25th and it landed this afternoon. The serial number ends (R) S. Is there a way of reading the panel type from the on screen menus?
It is a very cool TV...

In the confirmation e-mail you are given a link and order number. 24 hours before delivery date you click the link, enter the code and it will give you a 4 hour delivery window. I didn't use a promotional code as I only saw it after I had ordered, Doh. Only £10. But I was happy with £536 delivered.

The SAM32 code worked this morning but it has gone down from £30 to £20.

Make sure you use upper case.

Looks like a few Samsung panels are being distributed.

But isn’t this just an online offer? Correct me if I am wrong but I don’t think JL price match online offers.

That is true but RGB Direct (in Loughton, London) are selling the Telly for £541.88, and I have asked JL to price match it.

    Hi,

Just had it confirmed that currys will exchange/refund me for my 32R73 bought Nov06. rrp 849 paid 583.

I opted for the refund and they are collecting the tv friday and refunding the money next week.

Just bought the 32r88 from dixons online with codes and egg etc for total £505.

New model tv with better pic hopefully and 3 hdmi instead of 1 and £80 in the pocket to suit.

I wanted the 37R88 but they wanted an extra 141 to exchange for that so decided the 32 was the better value option all in all.

Hope i'm not disappointed! I heard somewhere they fixed the VGA washout effect when connected to the 360 anyone confirm this from experience? I had this problem with thr R73.

People that have updated from the R73 is there really a significant difference in pic quality sd and hd?

Also I wonder if the sets compared here which states the sd quality was far better on the 37 model was down to say comparing a 37 with a amo and a 32 with a cmo. Surely that can be the only explanation as the technology should be the same surely.

    thanks

Well done on your refund. Yes VGA Washout can be combatted with the "PC THEATRE MODE" option in the menus. Also there are better GAMMA and Black Level settings. All those settings that you had to change in the service menus are now in the normal menus and can be different for every input. The amount of user control over calibration is outstanding!

Standard Def certainly looks at least 10x better on my 37" AMO1 panel. I just hope you get a good panel. CMO6 is alot better than CMO3 so you should still be ok if you recieve a newer CMO.

Is that for the R88, because I can only find the R87 on their site, priced at £569.
PRC Direct is doing it £537 though.

That SAM32 code is a bit funny !!!!

I tried yesterday def didnt work, made sure of caps on and everything.... But i put an order in for the TV anyway...

Then saw post above this morning that it was working, obviously a bit miffed about missing out on the discount i tried it again - guess what it worked took 20 quid of the total to make £542, then used 10APR07 code to get £532...

So been straight on the phone to Dixons who are going to get back to me. so hopefully they should be able to honour this...

£562 down to £532.... plus 5% egg and 3% Quidco cashback.... greatstuff...

So even better deal and free del if you can wait 5 days...

Just await a call from them on the price honour...

I think their policy is if they drop their price within 7 days anyway you can claim the difference on the price you paid...

The differences between the R7 and R8 are:

    1) The R8 has movie and game modes. This improves the picture and how well the TV deals with fast moving images and gaming graphic demands.

    2) The R8 has three HDMI (two at the back and one on the side). The R7 only has one.

    3) The R8 has touch sensitive buttons (menu, channel, volume, etc) on the TV, and the R7 has push buttons like you'd find on a remote.

    4) This is not confirmed but it is believed that if an R8 comes with a CMO panel then it will be the better S-MVA panel, as opposed to the R7's MVA.

There is a difference between the R87 and the R88 as well:

    1) The R87 has a its power button on the front/bottom of the TV, just below where it says "Samsung".

    2) The R88 has a touch sensitive power button on the side with the other buttons.

    3) The R88 has a blue neon glow at the bottom of the TV. This can be set to be on when TV is in standby or when watching.

I think they are the only differences.

Mine was an 'S' panel. But I had a faulty TV because the remote control wouldn't operate it. So I have told them to take it back and give me a Sony S series instead for roughly the same price.

Can only use Egg or Quidco, not both - they are links from the respective websites.
