    Hi,

I was prepared to go for the LE26R74BDX from Amazon but have noticed there is the new model for £85 more. £400 was my budget but if there is a reason to add the extra cash I'll go for the newer model, so any info on the difference in quality between the two would be most appreciated.

My main uses will be for Sky Digital (possibly Sky HD soon), standard definition DVDs (I won't be updating my collection to HD/Blue Ray anytime soon), gaming (will probably get a PS3 or 360 later this year), and maybe connect the PC to it (if I find it useful).

    Cheers

I would personally get the R88, mainly because you will be kicking yourself later on, when you know you could of got a newer model.

Thats assuming the newer model is better though; sometimes they have improvements in some areas but new problems in others, which is why I'd like to get opinions from those who have them if possible. Plus I still have to get a stand, so if there's little difference between the two models I'll just get the older one and save the £85.

I know what you're saying though; I don't usually go for older models when they have just released the new one, but I'm no expert on LCDs so I thought I may as well ask for advice first.

The R74BDX can be bought from other places for around £380 + quidco cashback. I just bought one of these as a bedroom TV!

I checked out pricerunner.co.uk and it can be bought a little cheaper elsewhere, but not from anywhere I've dealt with before, so I would prefer to buy it from Amazon as I've bought from them for years. Also, they refund the difference if the price drops within 30 days of purchase, which is what the did for me when I bought my monitor off them. Btw mooseepoo, are you happy with it? Any bad points about it?

sne, someone else mentioned they've had a faulty old and new model, so I'm not too bothered about that; it's probably down to luck. As for the picture quality, is there not much between them then?

Oh, i was talking about the R87 but i was wrong anyway. I may not get a response but i want to buy tonight so its pretty urgent!.
I will be using the TV mainly as a PC monitor and with my xbox 360. with occasional TV use aswell. For this reason should i dish out for the R87 or stick with the R74?

Also is the R88 more likely to have the S-PVA panel as its a 'limited edition'?
