hi i know theres alot of threads about samsung LE##R41BDX tvs but ive search for info in what i would like to know but no luck.

right i ordered my LE26R41BDX Greenwich II LCD TV from play.com and i must say i the price grabbed me. anyway when i first set the tv up i thought wtf the quality of the screen was less quality than my old matsu asda tv 26"
iwas gutted then i tried a dvd, again compairing the 2 tvs and again my old tv was better, more detail was being seen and on the lcd smearing and less quality in the screen.
i thought this was a HD ready TV my god ps2 games look awful on it "gta sa in perticler" but anyway i was then told its down to the scart, rgb connection etc all i use is the 2 scart sockets 1 for ps2 1 for xbox so my my question is ,how do i push my tv to its limits you know when playing my consoles and watching dvds?do i need certain leads like gold scarts etc ive already ordered a vga theater lead to link my pc to the set.
because ive been told this tv had smashing screen quailty and i just do see it!

jesus man. these sets look ***** with anything other than a stella signal pumped into them.

you tv is just showing the bad sources that your old crt hid.

you need to get componant or vga connections for all your games consoles and dvd.

forget rgb it will look ***** on this set compared to what can be achieved with VGA OR COMPONANT.

if it isn't already you will need your xbox soft modded (search the forums for help on that). and go and buy a new dvd player with a componant output that does progressive scan. only some games will be able to do it on a ps2.

only then will you see a difference. your new tv is designed with the future in mind - not ***** like scart.

hey thanks for that rubberducker ,i just didnt know what the hell all the other people were talking about with leads etc i might not bother with the xbox or ps2 leads though as im waiting for the xbox 360 to come out i understand that it comes with Hd Leads.
oh and another thing do this mean that when i get my vga leads for my pc connection does this mean i can run dvds through my pc and watch them on my tv with better quality?

Thanks. One thing that concerns me is that I want one with HDMI but the same telly as you've ordered but without the freeview only says "HD Ready" I thought all of the 26" versions had the HDMI port? It's not the BX version just the normal one without the freeview..I can't see any way of contacting Play.com on their site either

Both have a DVI input so are "HD Ready".

I myself cant decide whether I should just order the non Freeview equipped version: I already have Sky so that would be duplication and I hear due to the proliferation of channels the picture quality is worsening ..........

Also, at least the "vanilla" version is in stock, the other one it seems is a bit too popular for its own good and is out of stock all over the place.

Actually they have an HDMI connection and not DVI. Infact all the Samsung LE series 26", 32" and 40" have an HDMI connection, be it the Freeview version or non Freeview.

So will a standard VGA cable do? As I'm planning on using it as a monitor/TV you see.

Yes it will. Infact from what some people have said the HDMI connection is not ideal as a PC input. VGA is supposedly better although even with that you msy need to download a utility called Powerstrip to adjust the resolutions on your PC to match that of the TV. At the end of the day VGA is probably better though.

You do know that in order to connect the 360 using VGA you have to get the 360 specific VGA cable right ?

You will need to import the xbox hi-def pack and soft mod your xbox, post in the xbox section, there should be plenty of people there to help you out

yeah i know that but is there a vga cable for xbox 1??
if not what should i get?

There isn't one for the Xbox. I was referring to the 360 that you're planning to get as there will be one for that. For the Xbox the above option is what you need, a soft mod and an advance HD pack ( essentially an Xbox specific component cable ).

Ive had this TV for a couple of months now and it has improved with time. LCD's take time to 'bed in' so to speak. Also, you wont see what your tv is capable of untill the xbox 360 comes out. Here is what ive done for best picture quality: Xbox into scart RGB, DVD into component (mine is not upscaling so it will look much better if it was), PC into VGA and Pace Sky digital into scart 2 (non rgb). Ive found that this tv dosn't like sky's rgb signal and im prepared to put up with an average picture in the knowledge that sky hd isn't a million years away.
