Samsung 226BW - Anywhere have stock? What is there such a holdup?

This is turning into an absolute joke now, Play claimed the 226bw was due for release 25th March, then when it was released they were waiting for stock and now they are claiming its due for release again, but this time on 30/04/2007!!!! I wonder what the hell they/samsung are playing at...and why there appears to be such a shortage!

Does anyone know where it is actually available, and not at a crazy price? Just using my parents' old crt monitor as i've just sold my old lcd, and its burning my eyes out doing my assignments :(

Anyone else in the same position having ordered from Play?

I'm rather miffed that they appear to have tricked me, a cunning and sly plot! :suicide: :)

Last week the only suppliers who had stock were Overclockers.co.uk but that was at £270 plus P&P. They say they've got more due in on the 9th April.

Yeah I wonder if thats true or not whether they will get stock in then...

Would have ordered from them a while ago if i'd have known there would have been this shortage, alas in my wiseness I went for play as they were cheaper :suicide: lol nevermind

I originally had the 206BW on order from Play but I couldn't be bothered waiting.
Check Overclockers on the 9th and find out. If you have a look on their forums theres a massive post on there about the 226BW and stock updates are being posted on there.

Thanks for that, already looked through it all though. Will be interesting to see if they do get stock on the 9th as they were supposed to get stock on the 4th I thought.

Still cant believe play has put it back till the end of the month...ridiculous!

Why don't you go for an alternative?

I was thinking of going for the same monitor until I heard about Samsung's poor customer service.

i've actually been looking for an alternative, however the fantastic reviews of it make me think that if I go for something else then I might regret it later and to add to that, it looks divine! :D

What alternatives have you looked at?

The customer service actually looks good to me from what I have read - monitors being picked up by a courier and replaced if anything is wrong, also you mention people who had a problem with the stand and samsung replaced the full thing as they dont just replace stands. Whats wrong with that? - a new monitor in the process! :D unless i've got the wrong end of the stick and if so, appologies!

I was giong to buy the Dell 22" until PC Pro awarded the Samsung the A List Award. After reading about Samsung support I'm considering the following

22" LG L226WT-SF - £205 - http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=564708

They don't replace with new monitors - refurbished ones :(. Maybe they changed policy with the 226 or they may not have any refurbs as it's too new?

No need to apologise :)

cant say ive read any reviews of the LG, the samsung looks a lot sleeker though i must say...

I dont think id mind if i had a problem with the stand and the full monitor was replaced with a refurb, a refurb would no doubt be as good as new. I dont think that issue would happen with the 226 anyway though as you say, its too new...plus ive not heard of anyone having a problem with the 226's stand apart from its not height adjustable :)

Think i'm just going to wait around as it looks like theres no decent alternatives for around the same price.

What monitor are you coming from?

I had a 19" widescreen Acer which was really good, hope the 22" appears a lot bigger though :D just using my parents sony flat crt at the mo while waiting, and while its good for a crt, I prefer lcds for some reason, they dont seem to strain my eyes as much...

I've got a 17" AG Neovo at the moment.

Did try out a 205BW but I need the extra 2" as the pitch is bigger - IMO easier on the eyes.
