Does anyone know if Samsung are bringing their larger DLP TV's to the UK. Have ruled out the Sagem and am defo getting a samsung, however I'm quite interested in the larger sets on the US samsung site i.e HL-R6768W and HL-R6168W and HL-R5678W. Anyone know about a possible release date over here or Importing ???

    Cheers

The 1080P Samsungs only arrived in US retailers yesterday, so I would guess it will be another 2-3 months before we see them in the UK. Remember the HLRxx67W models were released in May 2005 in the US, and arrived here in the UK in July as the SPxxL6HX series.

Good thread over at the AVSForums on user's experiences with the 1080P sets - http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=5876869&&#post5876869

Importing will give you no end of problems. Firstly the US displays are not PAL compatible, secondly you will need a step down convertor for the mains.

What advantages, if any, is there going to be viewing HD at 720p on a 1080p display rather than on a native 720p screen or would waiting for a new crop of 1080p displays be a waste of time, at least in the short term.

Good news, will wait until they get over here, I've read threads in here saying that 720p was almost as good, I just want a really big screen :) 67" sounds good and if they come with 1080p then all the better, don't think the missus will be happy, but lets see her try and move it out of the lounge on her own :smashin:

From what i can gather, most people seem to be preferring the Samsung screens ? Is that fair comment ?

    Cheers

None. But there are huge advantages to watching 1080i on a 1080p display.
