    Hi :hiya:

...Does tanyone know if this player plays DVD+R? or only -R?

Also would I notice a big difference in performance over my current Panasonic SC HT-75 All-in-One (which IMHO gives a crystal clear picture via Thor S-Video and I only have an old 28" Sony Wega CRT until I get my my DLP in about 6 weeks). Would the difference in Picture quality between this and my current Panny be very noticable 1) via component and 2) via HDMI?

Also how does this fare against something like a Dennon 550 All-In-One for picture quality on DVD? the denon would be paired to a Samsung DLP either SP46 or SP50.

Thanks for any insight on this!!! :lease:

Just so happens I have Comet's website open on DVD players. According to Comet's website the 850 does not offer +R compatibility, only -R.

I have a mis-bought samsung 850 in the bedroom and can confirm that it has just played two different DVD+r discs (different manufacturers and burned on different machines). I guess that is a yes then.

    Mis-bought might be slightly inaccurate.
I have a non-dvi/hdmi 26" lcd in the bedroom that accepts 720/1080 via component (it's native resolution is 768).
I have had it connected to a old (£1200) Pioneer 939 which is 480p only. I was walking through my local Comet the other day and there was sat 2 Samsung 850's to which i bought one to mess about with.
I prefer the 939 by a clear mile, the Samsung currently resides in the classified section somewhere.

    Regards

    Steven
