    Hi fellow board members!

the time has come, my floorstander budget is nearly complete. 300Sterling is my absolute maximum. I have a yamaha rxv650, and for me it's 55% music the rest games and movies. My lounge is about 2.5m by 6m, as it includes the kitchen (yes I know, noise and smell, thank you).

What would you recommend, given the fact that I will need to purchase a matching center later on?

I was looking at mission and tannoy mainly, but MS would be a good thing too I guess.

I know you get this sort of question every five seconds here, and I did my homework beforehand.

Thanks to everyone, your help is always evry much appreciated.

    TLM
Edit: Aegis EVO 3's look nice too :)

    2.5m? I'm thinking standmounts.

Any of the speaker brands you mentioned are fine, but what about 2nd hand or ex-demo?

2.5 x 6m! Did you bring your Tokyo apartment back with you? :D

    hahaha :)

that's probably I bad approximation... it might be bigger. I know for a fact that my previous flat had a deeper lounge, but was not as wide... I think it's probably 3m by 6 or 7... I'd have to measure (I'm in the office obviously). I had some floorstanders in that previous lounge, and they were just right (actually I had these speakers in an even tinier flat, 24square meters in all!!), so I was considering floorstanders first... Also, I like floorstanders as a design, which is why I will go for them instead of standmounts :)

...and for the record, I've been in Tokyo for 10 days for business... living there would have been great, especially since the price for electronic equipment is not like the ones we get in the UK

The brands you mentioned are fine. I would suggest that speaker you ultimately select do not require excessive freespace.

With the Yamaha, the Tannoy Fusion appeals. Monitor Audio B4 should also be added to your list, and many forum members are very happy with the Yamaha / Morduant Short Avant combo.

In the office? I thought everyone was at home having dinner and getting ready for bed. :rotfl: And don't complain, you should see the prices here in Australia

Thanks for your very helpful replies. I will consider the Tannoy Fusion and the MS avant combination. I will look into monitor audio too

Well, Australia... must be late now so off to bed with you! :hiya:

Dali Concept 6 - they outperform many other manufacturers, and have an excellent balance. But if you look at a good standmount, they'll give you a much more three dimensional sound and a more believable midrange.

Try Sevenoaks, a few of their outlets have them....they're about £400.
