my dad has asked me to work out wht his take home would be on new job hes been offered, anyone got a link to somewhere where u type in salary and it takes off all deductions.

i generally take off 1/3 for tax and ni but he will be over higher band i know its extra 1% Ni and 40% above 33k but having trouble amending my calcs- salary is 42k and 3K car allowance

any help appreciated thks

thanks!!

You "guys" are the best!!

noticed rates were at 2004 (diff is only £28 better off!!), the new rates i believe are now

tax allowance £5,035.00
10% on first £2,150.00
22% basic rate up to £33,330.00
40% higher rate above £33,330.00
NI £97 weekly or £420 monthly 11% on earnings over that limit, until you reach £645 weekly or £2795 monthly, after which you pay 1% NI on earnings over those thresholds

but even at the old rates its a fantastic take home!! he also gets potential 10% bonus and 2% commission - jealous, me:D

http://paywizard.worksmart.org.uk/tax_calc.php - with "new" rates.

http://www.i-resign.com/uk/financia...tStudentLoan=0&imageField.x=53&imageField.y=6 older rates but great reference point.

thanks again!!

those figures look about right, based on a 503L tax code (on an L code, replace the L with a 5 and thats the allowance for the year) which is the standard code at the moment. if you get any other taxable benefits like company care the code can be changed, but many companies prefer people to use thier own car and reclaim business miles instead (some also pay a car allowance)
