Went on a day trip to Calais yesterday and, whilst buckling the trolley with wine in Carrefour Hypermarket, took a stroll down to the electrical section.

Cut to the chase.....Sagem Axium D50 (PAL/SECAM) is 30% off in the sale at Carrefour Hypermarket in Citi De Europe. It costs.........drum roll......1743Euros. At todays exchange rate that's £1227.

Not sure about voltages but that's not a problem is it? I'm contemplating going back to get one next week.

Europe uses a common voltage & HZ just different outlets. As the set has a standard plug in mains cable just like a PC or a kettle lead, you don't even need to cut the plug off? it's just as easy to swap the lead.

    FIND YOUR VOLTAGE HERE

 Would be worth the trip to save £750. How would you stand if anything went wrong with it?

Also, would you be expected to pay VAT when you drove back into the country?

They probably wouldn't send anyone out to fix it, but return to base should be OK.

If you pay VAT in France, you will not have to pay it again in the UK.

I see no reason why it would not be covered by Sagems service dept regardless..........we are all EEC customers........extended warranty may be an issue tho?
