I am very sorry if this has been discussed before but I couldn't find anything regarding the Sagem's.

In the near future, I'll be sitting just under 10 feet away from the screen. Will this be too close for a 50" sagem?

My wife thinks it will be and will over power the room (aesthetically speaking) and wants to get the 45" instead. I think she could be right but don't want to regret not getting the 50" in a few months time.

Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated (or a link to a thread if this has been discussed before).

    Thanks alot.

I've just ordered a Sagem 45inch model but have a high def projector on a 8ft screen and all I can say is that you get used to the size very quickly.

2 months from now you'll be wishing you went for the 67 inch model.

My plan is to get a projector in the near future any way so maybe I just get the 45" and when it starts to look too small, I get my projector?

My wife has agreed to that idea.

You're both right. Even the 45 inch will "overpower" most rooms, at least for visitors. On the other hand, those who live with it get used to it very quickly, and soon you'll find yourself literally unable to watch smaller TVs (I turned on an old 28" the other day and found it uncomfortable!).

Really not sure what to do.

Aesthetically speaking the 50" will probably be too big and I don't want my room to look ugly!! But boy do I want that larger screen.

If someone can tell me that even for viewing purposes, the 50" will be too big, then I'll go for the 45" and save myself a couple of hundred quid.

    LOL.

I just got an email from David at AV Wow who reckons the 45" will be the best bet for me and seeing as it'll keep my wife happy too, I think I'll probably just have to get the one for girls. :D

However, I would be most grateful if you could tell me how the picture looks at 10 feet away. Did you get the 50" or the 56"?

I would like someones advise on which is best spec/ picture on these 3 sets. salesmen in shops seem to push most expensive so i'm sure they don't set them up the same. me and my kids love watching dvds and sky and would want something a bit special. i have a budget of about 1600 quid. any advise?:

    Amar,

it's just arrived, quickly set it up to have a quick look and must say im glad i got the 50" and not the 56".:D
From 10feet away the picture looks great out the box.Going to have a play with it next week.

Few pics here m8,I would say go for the 50" if youe 8ft or more away from the screen.

Thanks Hunts1uk. It looks great. I made a deal with my wife that if I go for the 45" then we go on holiday. She agreed, so I'll be going for the 45" screen.

The quality looks fabulous though and I am envious that I haven't ordered mine yet. I've been talking to AV Wow trying to get a good deal out of them.

Have you detected any signs of the humming so far?

Yes i can here a humming from the front when everythings (ysp-1) off. Will give the sagem engineer a call but it's not that bad it will ever bother me.:D Will have to find out what settings everyones using then i wouldn't mind getting it ISF calibrated.

Only problems i've found so far is when it's turned on it doesn't pick up scart(sky+) it goes to freeview of which i don't have an ariel.

So the humming doesn't distract you from normal viewing then?

What are your first thoughts on its viewing angles?

That really is good service to offer you a new set so quickly.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pick your tv up for from them? Did you get it at the price listed?

Just got the 45" delivered today, and I seem to have been lucky - no humming :)

Microdirect thoroughly recommended btw - next day delivery for £20, the TV only cost £1086, and the website says 5 years warranty (at least for the 45", not for the bigger models). Probably a mistake, but I had it confirmed so they're stuck with it now.
