Strange, that's the same chip as the existing 45H G4 models, but the contrast is lower (2000 vs 3000).

Edit: never mind, it's a journalist's error, both are 3000:1. According to the datasheets on the Sagem website, the only differences I can see are that the new models have a silver bezel rather than black (black looks nicer imo), only have a single HDMI socket, and don't come with detachable side speakers (which are crap anyway). Internally they're probably the same, probably with some of the build quality issues fixed - all those sets returned because of the buzzing must be costing them a ton of money.

Having said that, an ESP of £1200 is extremely cheap. You'd imagine it'll be possible to get them for £1000 pretty soon.

Abit weird that the new model will only have 1 hdmi input when the current model has two.

And it definately looks better in black rather than silver.

Sagem 45" for £1087 at microdirect.co.uk - just grabbed one myself :) Delivery only £20ish as well, or a few more for next day delivery.

The all silver finish is a bad move, it makes it look cheap/nasty IMO. I guess it is to bring it to the price point.

    Evenin',

    'New' model???

    'F' variant
    Silver
    HD4 chip
    No Speakers
    Single HDMI input

All sounds a bit too much like the model Currys have been selling for several months. ;) 'Cept it's £400 less than they were asking for Xmas :)

Does anyone have any concrete evidence it really is new, or just an announcement to keep 'em going till they fix the noise gremlins?

The Currys model was the old HD2+ one, whereas the G4 and the new F ones are HD4. But yeah, the difference between the bazillion different models this past year isn't much :) Looks like it might be worth snapping up the G4 now, because the prices on it are dropping like a stone as retailers dump their old stock in anticipation of the new.

ps another minor thing is they've added a subwoofer out with the F. Might be useful for some folk I guess.

Any estimates on when a new chip version is expected?

Much rather get a quiet one than a new one ;)

Seen a 45 inch Sagem in 2 Dixons stores around Manchester priced at £1098....not sure if it's the new model or just getting rid of old stock but it was silver finish and I think there was an ''F" in the model name....no info at all on their website.....

Comet at Scunthorpe are selling the (black) 45" as 'Discontinued Model' at £1049.
However, on asking, it turns out not only is it the old model, but the buyer gets the ex-dem item with all the scratches and finger marks nicely placed by their store browsers!

And it hummed like crazy.... :thumbsdow

Maybe this new model is a basic one to keep the costs low and there will be more "higher end" ones to follow as I believe the 50" G4 has also been discontinued.

Not sure whether to snap one of the G4 models now or to wait and see if they do bring out something better. At the moment this new "F" model doesn't really seem worth it.
