Sagem 32" HDMI LCD & Oppo DVD 971H

I recently purchased a Sagem 32" HDMI LCD (HD-L32) and I am wondering about the compatability of that TV for playing from the Oppo DVD OPDV971H.
The Sagem has 1366 x 768 resolution - does this mean it will be restricted to 720p "upscaling" or would it be able to cope with 1080i?
I am assuming the Oppo's DVI output connection would gel with the Sagem's HDMI input connections and that I can connect the sound using standard red/white RCA wires.

I'm not sure about resolutions but yes, the DVI will be ok with the HDMI with the appropriate cabling. I think you also need to take into consideration that DVI doesn't carry sound so you'll need to send it to the TV some other way (Unless you have an amp in which case it doesn't matter!)

I got my Oppo today but unfortunately my TV won't support the upscaled resolutions! If you buy it from Oppo direct, be aware that you'll get stung for around $50 for postage and packing and I got stung another £37 from Customs and Parcel force! You can get one from itsupplies.net for £139.50 plus £6.50 P&P although I'm not sure if that's inclusive of VAT. You can specify a DVI-HDMI cabnle with either.

Good luck. Keep an eye out for me selling my 1 day old Oppo in the classifieds if I can get no joy with it!

Hi

it will display both 720p and 1080i fine but i find 720p to be the best.
