Well, that's one opinion, but not one I share, nor those who've bought the item mentioned.
Monitor Audio are doing their version - i-Deck, so it would seem there's a market for it. Similarly Klipsch's iFi, but not available outside the US at the moment.

Did you read it carefully - did you see the word Bose - that is the point!

Not that they are being made but that Bose are doing them - and as everyone knows they are a triumph of marketing over design

Well, like I say, yours is one opinion - here's mine!
I would say the first 3 paragraphs are quite apt for you, given your postings above. I hope you formed those after listening extensively to the unit - I did for a month, and look forward to seeing if MA's i-Deck does it better.

Firstly I have no need of portable music as such, I don't listen to music outside of home or car, and I find that heavy rock does not compress well at all.

Secondly I have such a low opinion of Bose stuff - mostly caused by overadvertising overpriced poor quality goods.

Now I am not having a go at you at all - if you like it good, but the name Bose flashes up like a warning beacon. The instant impression is if it is Bose it must be rubbish.

As to listening - well I saw an advert in Top Gear magazine - now you see that the advert got people noticing.

I would also expect other companies to do a better job.

Agree with the marketing rubbish re Bose but to be honest i demo'ed the dock with an Ipod in it and was pleasantly surprised at the quality !!!

Although they did want £150 for it and to be honest im sure for that price you can get as good sound for less brass.

Well at £150 it is not bad value!

Perhaps it is because it is not using those little transistor radio type speakers

Heard both, and a couple of others at the Apple Shop in London recently....thought the JBL thing was surprisingly decent, but not exactly in the spirit of iPods being portable music players(and if I want something with speakers etc I wouldnt use the iPod for that)and really didnt like the Bose very much....not just because of the price etc,but just didnt like it's sound.

Does any body know who Bose are? Why such the low Opinion of them!!!!  (I'm sure people know really)

OK, their home stuff is overpriced rubbish,

But they are a professional speaker company and they produce wonderful sound with small speaker sizes. Many PA and Bands/Discos use there kit and it sounds GREAT!

One of there most famous speakers are the Bose "802's" 8 small speaker in one unit, and they make a good noise for there size! We are talking pretty good standard equipment!
