Ok So I now have a player capable of playing SACD. The sample discs sound very fine.... But where the hell can I get SACD's that have the kind of music you may want to listen to. PLAY have a very limited choice and don't seem to have added anything new for ages. I believe some Rolling Stones remastered stuff is due out... but where can I buy?

Does anyone actually own any decent SACD discs?

Come on... I'd like to hear from you.

SACDs are very limited...

I cant tell alot of difference between CD and SACD.

The future is MP3 (or similar eg. WMA).. why wont manufacturers start developing good MP3 cd players !!!

Tejpal, I think you may have to compare CD's & DVD's on system with sufficent resolution to highlight the differences between the two, which IMHO are vast.....

I think MP3 is is a 'convenience' format, it's OK, but certainly not the highest of Fi......... There are quite a few DVD players that now replay MP3. I think 'good MP3 players' is probably a contradiction in terms...... :D

I picked my Rolling Stones one up from HMV. MVC had them cheap online.

The future has to be lossless formats - MP3 is c**p for anything other than convenience use since it is throwing away data that represents "real" sound. Nothing to stop you using a PC as the main music source - I use Windows Media Player with a Pro soundcard and it sounds stunning. If you want to save disk space, something like Monkey's Audio Compression is a possible way to go.

dave48, I think you're right..... pretty pointless throwing away source material, then spending a fortune to reproduce what's left!

I said earlier-

Of course I meant to say CD's & SACD's.... , I'm sure you were all smart enough to spot my mistake, but far to polite to point it out :D

If you cant tell the difference between CD and SACD,and also think the future of music etc lies with MP3....then either you haven't heard them all on a suitable system,or you really enjoy lo-fi home theatre.

I've got about a dozen SACDs, and do not intend to buy any more as I do not think a product that is only available on the internet or by post will ever take off, yes there a few titles in the shops but not on a dedicated display and the average record shop assistant has never heard of SACD.

Some web sources that I have used are as follows, good luck.

www.amazon.co.uk
www.superaudio-cd.com
www.telarc.com
