    Hi

Firstly not sure where to post this thread but i'll pop it in here because i'm reffering to my Davs 550 (all in one.)

Basically, i own this system and it supports SACD, something i've never tried. Where can i buy super audio disks from? And what is the difference between our standard audio CD's and these super ones?

    Thanks a lot
    Dave

I'm sure those more technically minded will give you in depth appraisal, but in simple terms the main difference is multi channel (5.1) music. Bear in mind though that not all SACD's are Multi Channel (some are two channel) and a lot of those that are tend to be a little gimmicky; try too hard to emphasise the surround sound effect.

To my mind a good example of how it should be done is Telarc's infamous 1812. Try the standard CD track, then the SACD multi channel and the overall sound really does seem to go from 2 to 3 dimensional.

Hi thanks, had a look round and read an article on net a few mins ago on comparing sacd to dvd audio and standard CDDA. I do fancy trying multi channel audio however there just doesn't seem to be the choice out there! I'll look at that one you mentioned!

    Thanks again

    Hi!

Is this 5.1 or stereo then (tubular bells) as i do wish to purchase an sacd but preferably the 5.1 encoded ones and even more preferred, the hybrid disks.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000057NVH/026-4037051-2218038

    Doesn't really give any info?

    Thanks

    ------

Also, just remembered been reading a bit on dvd audio. Which is better would you say? Really i'd like to try either, but which ever would offer me 5.1 true output rather than stereo.

    http://www.play.com/play247.asp?searchtype=dvdatitle&searchstring=tubular+bells&page=search

is the link to the DVD audio one

    Thanks

Unless you've got something other than the DAV-S550 I'm afraid you're going to have to forget DVD-Audio.

Haven't done a back to back with the same disc in each format so couldnt say. both formats are good and I thought there was a good presence with bells. orchestral music would be the best test I'd think
