    Tall order perhaps!

Anyone recommend a player that can support both audio formats, can upscale to at least 1280x720 (and preferably 1920x1080) with no macroblocking (Denon 2910 reports don't look good!), with HDMI/DVI interface and good picture quality?

Or is this asking too much at this stage in HiDef development!

Try the Marantz DV-9500. Should be more than capable of satisfying you in each of these areas. I'm picking mine up next month.

marantz dv-9500 fits the bill perfectly.
The marantz though only upscales to either 720p or 1080i.

DVD players are not responsible for screen resolutions!! such as 1280 x 720, that is really down to the display device i.e plasma, lcd etc or if you are lucky an external scaler.

    Thanks all for your contributions...

Kumamoto - I'm aware that players aren't linked directly to screen resolutions but, if you consider that 720p in 16:9 aspect ratio infers a resolution of 1280x720 (as per EICTA), then some sort of horizontal 'down-scaling' will need to take place in the display to fill say a new Panny 37" PV500 - which has a native resolution of 1024x720. Better that the scaling happens at the player end with a high quality scaler (e.g. DCDi) than at the display end.

Of course, life would be a lot simpler if PDP manufacturers made panels with perfectly square pixels at least to 720p aspect - therefore, no scaling required!
