I would like to replace the Pace Twin PVR with MCE system, but the graphic cards I have tried do not match the quality of the Pace S-Video output. The difference is most easily seen in the sharpness of the text.

I am using the same S-Video cable for the comparison, so it is not a cable issue. The display on a PC screen is near perfect, so it is not the tuner.

I have tried both Ati Radeon and Nvidia cards. The Radeon is noticeable better than the Nvidia.

The TV is Panasonic 26in LCD TX-26LXD1
    Tuner is Cinergy 2400iDT
    OS - MCE with Rollup2
    CPU - Core2Duo E6300
    Graphics cards tried:
GeForce 7300 GS and Forceware v91.31
ATI Radeon RX600 and Catalyst v6.2
    S-Video format: i-pal

Any suggestions for a graphics card with high quality i-Pal S-Video?

If you're going into an LCD screen, why not use the VGA input (assuming it has one)

You will find it extremelly difficult to get readable text if using a high PC res over s-video i'm afraid, but as you noticed - ATi Radeon TV outputs are very good.

No s-video out on a graphics card will match the picture quality of even the cheapest Set Top Box. With some ATI Radeon cards you can get a VGA->RGB SCART cable made up. Otherwise just use the DVI or VGA out.
