What is the best quality out of these:

    S-Video (front)
    S-Video via SCART (AV2 / AV3)
    RGB SCART (AV1)

    RGB on your TV, definitely.

RGB is always the best in theory, but some TVs don't seem to do it too well and give a rather dull picture (e.g. JVC AV28R25/AV32R25) so in these cases, S-Video gives a better picture, regretably.

This is an FAQ (almost weekly). Take a look at past posts for more info.

The manufacturer has already indicated the prefered method of connection ..... AV1, which you state is RGB. Therefore, go with that. RGB is usually the better connection anyhow. :) But as was mentioined earlier, check your TV, as some are worse than others. :)
