Can anyone tell me whether any of the ondigital boxes can output both RGB and S video.

Ideally I'd like to send RGB to the TV from the TV Scart on the Digibox and S video to my SVHS or DVHS from the VCR scart on the digibox.

I know I can get a converter to change the RGB to S video but then this would presumably leave me with only composite output from the VCR scart.

    thanks!

I'm not aware of any On Digital box (or Sky Digibox for that matter), that outputs S-Video, that would be way too useful :-(

The only option I can think of is an IDTV. My Sony 28DX20 (undocumented functionality), outputs RGB from AV1 which could be connected to an RGB to S-Video adaptor. This set also allows direct coupling of RGB to the display, hence this would do what you are trying to achieve.

Unfortunately at 799+ pounds, this is a rather expensive option to solving your problem.

Perhaps some sort of scart switch box, coupled with an RGB to S-video converter would be a better option, send RGB to the TV when you want to watch that, but redirect the RGB to the converter when you want to tape something?

My dad has a Nokia OnDigital box & whilst in the TV & VCR set up menu it has a RGB scart to the TV & a S-video & Composite video scart to the VCR. Although it doesn't have a S-video mini din socket for TV or VCR, though. When recorded on a S-VHS tape the picture is superb.
    Cheers, Neil

Sky+ has S/OUT and so did the later Grundig sky boxes (From model 310/2 thru to GDS3000), but I haven't seen a Freeview box with it yet.

The JS tech RGB to s-video converter has two outputs - one RGB and one S-video (the rgb just passes through). Around £75.

The netgem I player has RGB and S-video outputs, as far as I'm aware it can do both at the same time as it has seperate sockets for them... Not tried it though as only need RGB.

It also has USB in and digi audio out if you find these useful.

Sorry, but I don't quite follow the "it can do both (RGB & S) at the same time" part.....

I thought the second scart on the I-Player was a 'pass-through'.

Quite happy to be corrected if wrong

I am sure the panasonic TUC30 has both RGB and SVideo out via the scart.

Ondigital box? I take it you mean Freeview.

In which case go for the Pioneer 1000. It has RGB scart AND S-video SCART (on BOTH SCARTS). I use it for my SVHS vcr as well as RGB to my TV.

Thomson combined DVD and freeview box.
Thomson twin freeview-tuner plus harddrive both have SVideo mini Din output. Cost - approx £200 and £250.

The Pioneer DBR-TF100GB does exactly what you need. Outputs RGB from TV scart and S-video from VCR scart. It is also a very good box with very good service backup. You can get it for about £71 from Richer Sounds.
