Can this be done? It looks like it's S-Video and normal sound or Scart and Digital toslink? Or have I missed something?

The Joytech £15 lead can do this I think.

Yes, S-Video and 5.1 out (optical) works. I have it hooked up to my Seleco320.

After playing Halo and a bunch of other games on my projector and in 5.1 the TV just doesn't cut it anymore.

I was looking for one of these ages ago, as I would like to use the DVD for the TV's only RGB input. Is the S-video picture decent quality? I couldn't believe the difference between composite and RGB for the Xbox video cable. I know S-vid ought to be closer to the RGB than to the composite.

Neoblade, how will you be doing Xbox progressive scan? Have you imported an US Xbox or is there another trick.....

I am currently playing Halo on a 8ft wide screen in 4:3 with full 5.1. This is so spooky when all lights are out in the room and the sound is fully cranked up..... Progressive scan would even improve on this experience....

    dejongj,
Messiah is the man to ask since he one one of the first on the forums to get his Xbox chipped and used the video select CD. Basically with this boot disk you can change the region of your Xbox from PAL to NTSC. Once changed into NTSC the Xbox can output in progressive scan (480p) which is sweet for any european owners who can benefit form progressive scan.

I've heard that once you've used the boot disk the Xbox would remember the setting so you don't have to use it again.. I can't confirm this but there are people who have copied the video select CD to the hard drive and made it boot up with the Xbox straight away.

Its certainly good news since the graphics will be even better.

The Advanced AV pack (only available through import) can do this also - cost me £30 from videogameimports.com

Joytech offers the Component cable + Optical lead for £15 as stated by Nic Rhodes, so there isn't a need to import a Component cable anymore. You would though if you wanted one for the Gamecube...

Anyway the European Xbox cannot output in progressive scan with a modification as stated on my previous post. No matter how hard you jam in that new Advanced AV pack, its not going to give you progressive scan out of the box ^_^
