Am in the process of building a pc around a Ryzen 5600x and need advice on a good gpu pairing I have a budget of £200 to £300 to spend?

Brand new you are looking at Radeon RX 6500xt, Nvidia 3050 or older 2060 in that price bracket. Personally if it was me I would try & stump up a little bit more & go for the Radeon RX 6600.

PowerColor AMD Radeon RX 6600 Fighter 8GB Graphics Card
6500XT is a terrible value proposition and is easily beaten by a second hand option.

Definitely 6600XT or 3060 TI FE which has a very reasonable SRP.

GPUs have dropped in price so second hand you can get a pretty good option.

Thanks I have got a 650w psu.
650w means little, it really depends on the brand and the rating of the PSU, if its a decent brand it will likely be a 650w but some of the cheaper brands just stick wattage labels on the psu, know it sounds a bit negative but I've repaired so many pcs with crappy PSUs that claim 1000w and are actually putting out a unstable 350w.
People often neglect to invest in a decent psu and spend the budget on GCs.

Have got this psu

yeah, that'll be fine. It gets pretty good reviews. They say that it's expensive for a bronze rated PSU but performs quite well.
