Hey guys just ordered one of these fron the internet Peter Tyson, was a really good deal going for £599.99 plus £!0 p&p so i cant grumble. I just wanted to see if anyone had any views on it and whether you all thought that it was a considerable upgrade from the DSP ax620.
All views and opinions would be appreciated

The Yamaha 2400 is a great amp, it's got probably all the bells & whistles you'll ever need including THX certification! For £610 it's a steal :smashin:

What will you be driving with this?

Nice! I'm sure the Yamaha won't have any problems driving the Aelites, even though they're meant to be very power-hungry speakers :) Which Aelites are these, Aelites 3's?

Yes that seems like a FANTASTIC price for a reciver less than a year old,
would this be a better amp for the same cost as the new Yamaha 1500 though?

i think that it is as far as i can read and all the tech specs this seems better, the 1400 was replaced by the 1500 and the 2400 by the 2500 so im hoping that it is. IVe got my fingers crossed now! ive read all the reviews had a breif demo of one and it sounded good and for the money it seems a steel. I dont think technology could have changed that much over the last year could it?

If you've got the cash you could get the Yamaha 2500 for a £100 extra from Peter Tyson!

To be honest, the 2400 and 1500 are very similar. They both have the same power, the same 32-bit circuitry, both have automatic setups, both are THX certified, both have video upconversion, both have 8 digital inputs (5 optical, 3 coax). The 2400 may use better internal components but I'm not sure about this.

Either way you won't go wrong with either unit!

    Hello Tej,

I know the 2400 setup is supposed to be rotten!? I am waiting for a review of the 1500 myself with baited breath, I hope the 1500 is as good as the 2400 for movies as it looks like the YPAO is much much better.

Sweet, im still awaiting arrival they have said thursday so my fingers are crossed and im anticipating the arrival. Im hoping its going to be a huge difference to the 620. I will let everyone know my only concern now is that these yamaha amps can run up to 11 pairs of speakers i may feel buying some new ones just might be a good idea :D

Hi all, just thought I would add my bit, had my 2400 since October and I’m now well pleased with it but at first I was a little bit disappointed with it after running the auto setup (YAPO) a few times I was expecting more from it but then starting manually fiddling with it and now have it to a point were I think it sounds great (to me anyways) maybe able to get it even better if I got a sound meter :D

Oh my god!!! how good is this?
Ok it arrived box and with remote instructions the usual, so i unplug my 620 remarkably quickly so quick i buggered my dvd plug :( Anyways i heave-ho the worlds heaviest (well it felt like it) amp out of the box, and hurried to plug it in. I took my Component video connection from my dvd to it and my s-video to it from my ps 2, added a newly found component to go from that to my tuner box and then proceeded to add the speaker cables. I will add please take ur time while doing this, as this amp seems a little more sensitve than the previous. I plugged in the YPAO device (mic). and sat back and let the action take place, test left, test centre, test right levels do get quite loud!!! then test rears......pop...system shut down oh bugger. THe wires were touching well it thought they were couldnt find out where so just rewired it, bingo worked. I decided tho that id set it up myself manually as it looked like so much fun so i did. Took about 15mins guessing what the signed did and what everything meant. Anyways i did my best and it sounds fantastic.
SO now to test the beast in action, i put in a DVD Tripple X (not porn) suberbit Region 2. The DVd starts and the rears are working wahooo. SO i change the DVD to DTS as that always rules for sound, start the movie intro bang bang bang left right centre rear right rear left all working a treat. And you know its a new amp so i want to try and have some fun so i turn it up and when i say up it was extremely loud. the movie starts passed the credits and you here like a gun/harpoon thing go off scared the bejesus outta me and my girlfriend, so id say result.
Im really pleased with the amp its a lovely peice of kit and its definately worth the money again yamaha have done me proud.

    Hello Dude and Tej,

Ok I had the same feeling as you THXDude the yammy 1500 weighs a TON! So anyway I
plugged it in set it up and WOW what a diff, I cant even put it on a postive DB as it's too loud and made my AE speakers do a poping cracking sound while watching the pod race in episode one!!!!?? Now all I need is some decent speakers and a Velodyne CHT-R10 to do it justice mwahhhhhhahahahahah :D:thumbsup:
