Running slower than it could - FM2008

Alright there! Perhaps someone can help me...

I am a Footy Manager addict and have experienced this problem on my PC with the last 3 versions of the game...

I have an up to date PC with impressive hardware etc... yet Footy Manager always seems to run slower than it perhaps could. I have played it on mates PC which are worse than mine yet their game seems to respond better and quicker than mine does.

I dont have this problem with any other game.

Any ideas?

I think memory and CPu speed matter most for the FM games, what spec do you have cmpared to your mates?

defrag the hard drive perhaps?

FM games have a lot of little data files from what I remember, if these get strewn about all over the HDD then searching times will make the game sluggish

I have 3.4ghz and 2gb ram.

They have less than 2.8 and less than 1.

No, just loaded all players from the main countries.

To make matters worse I have now had a 'crash dump' error.
