I have an old sony DavS800 subwoofer which i am hoping to use until my special order Jamo c80sub arrives.(2-4 weeks)

The sony sub is 100w and rated 3ohm.
I know the 805 drives down to 4ohm with over 180w per channel.
Would i be able to drive the 3ohm sub adequatly with the SR805?
i have no idea if its any sort of risk and any help will be appreciated :)
    Thanks.

It won't work at all - the subwoofer output on the Onkyo is unpowered.

You will need to hook up a spare amplifier to to the subwoofer output on the Onkyo, then connect your subwoofer to that.

yeah, that was my first thought, oh well i think its still possible to do with the sony all in one just powering the sub. a bit annoying but better than no sub!

    thanks for the answer!

Oh and by the way i did know the sub output is unpowered, i meant power it through the + and - which the sub uses! (the sub is unpowered)
