Rumour: Samsung and Sony lining up QD-OLED TVs for CES 2022? - news discussion

All the new OLED’s will have the EVO panels (deuterium based pixels) which is more durable than the previous OLED panels. Will see if rtings.com mentions this in their reviews as all the other reviewers do. They didn’t mention this when they reviewed the G1 so I am assuming they will keep mentioning burn in for marketing and ignore the engineering progress.

Rtings.com gives the permanent burn in rating for the G1 a 2 out of 10. Do you think they are interested in the truth or marketing? Think of the recognition they get for bringing up burn in over and over. They aren’t interested in changing their strategy. Money talks. It is a business.

anyone think LG will up the prices for the "EX OLED" TVs this year?
the 2021 ones were slightly cheaper then 2020 but wonder if they will be priced the same as last year or more.

It’s a nice video preview and while I’m sure it’s hard to show QD over video via YouTube..the oled looks far too blue, I’d love to know what oled preset they used in the comparison (assuming not a calibrated mode). Really looking forward to calibrated comparison though.

Sony presents its new Smart TVs for 2022 with QD-OLED, Mini LED and VRR

On link above:

"since the A90K model will only be available in 42 and 48 inches, the other inches being relegated to the A80K and A95K range, although only the A90 and A95K will be considered " Master Series " , a very strange move at Sony. We also confirm that neither of these two will have a heatsink"

Looks like Sony and LG won't be using a heatsink on the 42 or 48" OLEDs for 2022, and possible No to EVO panels also.

However Asus engineers have apparently addressed the lack of heatsink and applied it to their upcoming Rog 42" and 48" gaming OLED screens here:

900 nits brightness with heatsink, anti glare coating and full 48Gbps hdmi 2.1 ports included.

QD OLED is more important for the PC gaming space than it is for the living room TV space. I cant wait for 42/48 inch QD OLED gaming monitors.

Im also sure that the samsung comparison was heavily biased in its settings. The OLED they used looks terrible.

That bottom comparison is just the usual marketing bullshit. There's not a chance that's an accurate comparison.

They have some QD-OLED gaming screens 34" size coming apparently in March/April, think its dell first then Samsung.

the QD-OLED TVs from samsung or Sony I believe are rumoured this fall oddly, so it looks like the 34" panels will arrive first and probably cost a few limbs or 2, we also got the 42" Asus Rog using the 42" LG OLED panel coming but not sure I caught an ETA on that one but probably this spring/summer since LG and Sony got the 42" OLEDs also coming out then.

I doubt any QD-OLED will be affordable to the majority though, its also better to wait for proper reviews between the latest 2022 OLED panels also since they might be not so far off on QD-OLED, most people have their eye on the 42" OLED LG or Sony offerings.

That bottom comparison is just the usual marketing bullsh*t. There's not a chance that's an accurate comparison.

Yeah these comparisons should come with 1kg of rock salt for when it snows, the OLED panel looked more dark and inaccurate imo, they could have just set filmmaker mode and didn't bother to increase the OLED light....otherwise it might have revealed the details in the dark scenes or matched the QD-OLED

Will be interesting to get real opinions, side by side comparisons, reviews and see it in person in stores.
