    Hi,
I'm trying to use digiguide (www.digiguide.com) to automatically record off sky digital to divx via virtual dub on a scheduled basis.
Everything is working fine with the exception of control to
the digibox. Yes, personal planner does work, but I really want
    to automate the whole process.

Does anyone have any information on how to do this. Yes it is
possible as satcure sell a digimemo which does something similar
(for £70), but there is no direct link to the Pc.

    thanks,

    Jon

Up to now the serial (RS-232) port on $ky Digiboxes has only been used for factory-based functional tests.
The rumour is that it may soon have a real user function - but that's only a rumour right now.
I'll tell you more (if I'm allowed to) after my next visits to the design dept. at Pace.

I've been trying to find out abou this too. I want to have a go at building my own PVR, but it wouldn't be much use without being able to change the sat. channel!

Ideally I'd be able to change channel with a simple serial console command.

    Anyone else any ideas?

I think you may be discussing the 1394 digital interface socket.

A long time ago Pace implemented a software "upgrade" which puts a 5 minute time-out on this factory test/programming socket, which makes it useless for any control usage.

    See
    http://www.satcure.co.uk/digifaq2.htm#computer

However, it's easy to control a Sky Digibox via the RF2 socket, just as the various "Digilink, SLXlink, TVlink" remote extenders do. You just have to find out the carrier frequency and the data mode!
