Hi, I was wondering about the RS 232 socket on the back of my Yamaha AX-1. Could it be used for making the amp recognise DPL2 or DTS neo 6 or DTS ES discreet if/when the software becomes available? Or would I have to buy a decoder which plugs into the 5.1 input on the back?
Also, will there be DVD audio only players coming out soon, like there are SACD players which don't play DVD video?
    Cheers, Neil.
PS hope my questions aren't too crap!
    ;) ;) ;) ;)

Me thinks the RS232 is only for use with remote control systems.

The AX1 was upgraded in Japan however (DPL II, AAC, DTS Es Discrete) but this involved SW and HW changes and is not intended for other markets.

Please note that DTS Es Discrete is a true 6.1 system, so the 5.1 input at the AX1 won't be sufficient either.

Bad news. Perhaps a Denon next time?
