Royal Mail - good news for a change!

I heard on the news this morning that the Royal Mail are going to change the way they charge for parcel delivery. At the moment, they charge based on weight but are going to change to charge by size instead. This means that all those heavy little box-sets should now be a lot cheaper to send. I know most retailers these days have free delivery but for those of us on the buy/sell forum it could make for a lot of savings. :)

Actually this is very bad news. According to Sky News it would mean the prices of CDs & DVDs going UP (because they don't weigh much relative to their size) :thumbsdow

Not going to be implemented until end of 05 though...

Saw the new and it said one package was going up by 90% second class.
So now if the parcels are small but heavy the post can be carrying more weight for less income. Sounds a bit stupid to me.

other carrier services charge by volume though. I wanted to bring a tleescope back from the states and called into the uspo adn they measured the volume and wanted more thant the telescope to send it. Brought it back as hand luggage! Very heavy handluggage :)

Sounds like it's time to start sending rocks to each other until they get the hint. ;)
