Rover Cars and warranties

Hi All:hiya:

My dad has got it into his head to buy a used Rover 75 Tourer 2.5 V6 Auto.

I have tried to talk him out of it due to Rover Cars Ltd no longer trading etc

Do any (say 1 - 2 year old) used Rovers come with any warranty at all?

Thanks!

There won't be any manufacturer's warranty, but the dealer may offer an aftermarket warranty. Alternatively, you can buy one yourself. I think the RAC have put together a warranty package for Rovers.

The 75 wasn't a bad car, and the tourer is useful. But make sure he gets a fantastic deal: if he doesn't, it would be far less hassle to buy something that's still in production!

The 4.6 V8 looks like a bit of a bargain at the moment, mind...a sort of OAP's Monaro, if you like.

There are a number of reasons why Rover failed.

One of them was the generally poor standard of their products. Avoid unless they are virtually giving it away.

Thanks for all comments posted so far.

I think I have managed to change his mind and buy a Volvo V70 2.4 SE instead!

got a MG ZT CDTi+ 04 plate with a warranty (from a former Rover Dealership bought the car AFTER Rover went down the tubes) had a driver seat airbag went faulty 2 months ago no probs replacing under warranty, spares are freely available. My ZT has a BMW 2.0 diesel engine,no probs there.
Also have a look at how many are running around cannot see what people worry about. If you can get parts for cars 35yrs + you ain't gonna have a problem with Rover.

Only wish hadn't believed what people say about Rover as they are a good car.

the warranty paid for it and all is fine. Peeps seem to worry about nothing in my opinion as we never hear of any issue's following daewoo's probs after all they were only vauxhall in disguise,if you require hillman parts look to Iran,Austin head for India I believe.

My dad had a 2001 Rover 75 2.0 CDT saloon. Was a lovely looking car (Dark pearlescent blue with all round window tint on 16" wheels), only problems it had were the fuel guage was dodgy and ran out before showing empty, if you ran out of fuel it needed an RAC man to drain the system and the air flow computer went once under warrenty (Think that was a £500 job).

Nicest thing was being in it at night with the orange dials glowing and the stereo loudish, ours had the premium setup with Harmon Kardon tweeters x4, mid bass x4, sub x2, alpine headunit (IIRC) and either Harmon or alpine amps.

I loved it and so did he
