I have a Rotel 1055 and am highly delighted with it. I am soon moving to a new house and the rear speakers will be about 3 feet behind and either side of a 12 foot wide room. I'm concerned that they may be too far apart to give a good soundstage. My amp can do Rotel XS which apparently works with all ES/EX 6.1 stuff and also decodes 5.1 into 6.1. I have the option of fitting a centre back speaker about 7 feet behind the seating position and wondered wether it would be worthwhile. I guess my questions are. 1. How many DVD's are encoded with 6.1? 2. Has anyone got experience of Rotel XS with 5.1 DD/DTS? 3. It says it works with DPL2 as well. This option does involve me getting an extra monoblock power amp (1055 only has 5 amps) so it's not taken lightly (also have to smuggle a speaker up under the breakfast bar) so I'm not taking it lightly. However, I'd like to put all the wiring in if I think I'm ever going to do it. Any comments?
