I am thinking of adding a 5 channel power amp to my HT setup. Currently using a Marantz SR5300. Thus, my SR5300 will become a pre amp.

Due to my tight budget, I have narrowed to these 2 amps. I am using a pair of AE Evo 1 for my front and rear surround as well as Infinity Alpha center. Sub is Mirage frx S8.

My main aim is good stereo. I usually listen to symphonies with ocassional Jazz and movies. I am not into serious HT thus sticking with 5.1 setups.

    Thanks for your help.

I bought the Parasound hca-855 over the rotel 1075 and 95 which should answer your question.

I have now moved onto the 2205 which is nothing short of stunning.

there was a 2205 for sale in the classifieds for about £1000.

differences I found were that the rotel sounded a bit shrill when my processor was at -7db, where as the 855 parasound still sounded warm and totally in control at 0db, oh and alot louder.

with the 2205 I now listen at around -10db and it is louder still, but it has so much control :)

Having said that was offered brand new 1205's for half price, think he said that they had 8 of them, if you are interested and you want me to get an exact price let me know and I will ask him again. Wasn't that interested as I had just bought the 2205 a couple of weeks previously.

I have good experience of the 1205, having recently repaired one for a friend, it is a very well designed and potent amplifier and by far the superior to the Rotel in my opinion.

    Regards

Are you looking for a new or second hand. Parasounds new range is rather majestic - they do a 5 channel called the A52 which lists at £1700 - can probably pick it up for £1500 after a bit of discount. Link below -

    http://www.parasound.com/halonew/A52details.asp

Not sure how tight your budget is but this is better than the 1205A - not directly tried a 1205A but I have compared a 2205A with their new A51 and their was significant improvement to justify the extra for the new model.

I would say that the 1205A in turn is better than a Rotel 1075 - definately agree with all the opinions expressed above. I used to own a 1095 which I am swapping for the Parasound.

Thanks! I will go for the A52. My budget is £1500 but but 200 more is still OK. Again, thanks!
