hi, I have a pair of rotel 981 power amps currently running off my anthem mrx510 wired to b&w800n. I am looking for another pair of 981 to run 2 amps per speaker bi amped. But while I am still looking for some I have a pair of rotel 870bx so am wondering if I can use the 981 for woofer duties and the 870 for highs without much hassle? I know it's not ideal but can it work effectively albeit temporarily?? Thanks

Assuming the two amplifiers have the same gain (likely, but check the specs), it should be fine. However, I don't understand your calculation. Both the RB-870 and the RB-981 are stereo power amplifiers, so the pair of 981's you currently have already give you four channels of amplification allowing you to bi-amplify the B&W 800 front speakers. Adding another pair of amplifiers will yield 8 channels per speaker.

Bridging the Rotels is not necessary a good idea - the B&W's have a minimum impedance of 3.1 Ohms, below the specification of the Rotels in bridging mode.

Hi. My intentions were to bridge the amps to give the speakers more power.
