I borrowed a rotary fan off the parents the other day and at night was doing some graphic intensive work and because I had been in the computer had the side of but I started to notice a increase in temperature. So I put the fan of to blow over it and it cool it and me down a treat.

I was thinking of getting one myself and saw there were some towers fans which I though would be ideal but just how good are they compared with the rotary ones as the aperture does not look that big.

those tower fans are useless.........they create such a narrow channel of moving air that even on swivel they are rubbish.....you can't beat a conventional fan with big blades (well you could get air con :) ) and in my experience the metal / chrome ones are best of all

I agree... get a conventional fan, with blades as big as possible. The bigger the fan, the quieter it is.
