Room accoustics: solutions sought.

Room accoustics were never brilliant. I have laid engineered wood flooring, plastered the walls and finished with paint.
Hard surfaces everywhere, sound is terrible. Room contents (atm), leather lazboys, area rug and 4 peice sheepskin.

Any ideas to improve accoustics as situation at moment is pretty poor, very bright with reverb.
Sony 1080, Tannoy Revolution R3 & R2. Brought a Denon PMA 520AE to try sometning different, no better.

Room size 6X5m

If you can't get away with acoustic panels on the walls I would go with as much soft furnishings as possible, thick rugs, large sofas and cushions, thick floor to ceiling curtains.
I'm looking into getting acoustic panels printed with a design the misses has chosen, pics off the kids. Think I'm winning this one she nearly fully on board.
