I have recently invested in an Acoustic Energy AEG05/P5 full DTS/Dolby Digital amplifier with active sub-woofer to replace my aging Technics SA-AX6 which was only Dolby Pro Logic and had a passive sub-woofer.

I heard the AEG05/P5 when visiting a local specialist shop and was impressed enough to part with my money when I wasn't really in the market for spending!

I have the system working but I'm confused as to what settings I should have on the Ronin speaker setup to get the best results.

I'm using the digital coaxial output from the Ronin to the digital coaxial input on the AEGOP5 for DVDs and I've set the Ronin as follows (the other options available are shown in the brackets):

Downmix Off (LT/Rt Stereo V Surr)
Front Speaker Small
Center Speaker Lrg
Rear speaker Sml
Sub Woofer OnTest Tone Off
Dialog (Greyed Out) 20
Post DRC Auto

SPDIF Setup

SPDIF Output RAW (SPDIF Off SPDIF/RAW SPDIF/PCM Manual)

The following five options are all greyed out
CD RAW
DOLBY DIGITAL RAW
DTS RAW
MPG RAW
PCM CHANNEL L/R
LPCM Out

If I select Manual the greyed out options become "live".

DOLBY DIGITAL SETUP

Dual Mono Str (Stereo L-Mono R-Mono Mix-Mono)
Dynamic set to half

There are also options for channel delay which I can't work out how to set. Also Equalizer which is set to Classic and Reverb Mode which is set to Living Room, with other options available for each.

Also, I've read somewhere that in order to have DTS audio when available on a DVD it's necessary to select this, usually in the Language options of the DVD. Can anyone confirm if this is true?

The Ronin shows DTS as an option on the panel display.

Any help in getting the settings correct would be much appreciated.
