Not to be confused with Star Wars Episode VII / the new trilogy, but rumors says Zack Snyder (Man of Steel) is developing a stand-alone Star Wars project for Lucasfilm that is set within the series' galaxy, but not connected to the new SW trilogy.

Edit - A rep for Snyder has sent a statement to The Hollywood Reporter denying Vulture's report claiming that he is involved with a Star Wars film.

Edit 2: - Reportedly Snyder has meet with Kathy Kenndy to pitch his idea

Interesting, thanks!... I saw some 'banter' on the web indicating that ABC Entertainment might be looking at putting a live action Star Wars series on their channel. With Disney being their parent company... it means no expensive licence fees. (This of course 'resurrects' the chance of the live series coming to life).

It seems the Star Wars rumour mill is rife at the moment... lots to look forward to in the future :D

I wonder if Snyder’s untitled Jedi film would be an episode or a film in it's own right? Seven Samurai... I could see a certain Mr Fett leading the magnificent seven! (P.S is Kurosawa’s classic on Blu yet? If not, why not!)

I know its Disney, and I know its "further away", but I really hope they DONT do spin offs /solo films like this, imo it will really water down the franchise

Im all for the next trilogy (as I grew up expecting there to be 9 films straight from GL's mouth lol), but to create spinoffs too - Im really not sure.

I am all for a live-action tv series though, I would love to see this take place (I really tried to enjoy S1 of the animated tv show, but just couldnt get into it)

Disney CEO Bob Iger confirms stand alone Star Wars films
(but not any of the current rumors of Snyder, Yoda etc, just that the films are coming)

Characters that are not part of the main saga is fine by me. A spin off movie based around Kysshhkkk is fine by me and what the wookies get up to I would find Interesting.

Or how about a Bounty Hunters movie? May be a slight over saturation of Star Wars compared to what's been released over the last 35 years but I think both Disney and Lucasfilm will be true to the franchise

The characters are there. What's the problem? If some are rubbish then it's hardly going to taint the originals and the best. I would rather they try to make more Star Wars than just not bother. At least that gives me the option to like or not.

Couldn't agree more. I'm quite excited at the prospect of more Star Wars - and if they turn out to be cack then no problem - there's plenty of other films out there to watch!

LOL, the politically correct mob will no doubt insist on some topics being covered. Stuff like :

      • The great grandmother of Leah fights for the right of women to bear lightsabers against a staunch patriarchal Jedi movement, whilst coping with a drunken and abusive husband.
      • Han Solo's grandfather struggles to cope with his growing feelings for a wookie, on a planet where interracial and same sex relationships are punishable by death.
      • An earlier model of R2D2 fights to highlight the environmental damage done by current industrial mining for fuel, and attempts to convince the doubters to embrace the use of wind power as a viable and healthier alternative for building droids.
      :D

A Boba Fett movie would work for me as long as they treat his character like the recent Dredd; eg raw, deadly, gritty and largely silent. It would be good to explore the rougher side of the SW galaxy.

I don't want them to de-mystify the character with loads of guff about Kamino and cloning.

Oh, and have him kill someone. Boba Fett is probably the only 'badass' who never kills a single person in the entire saga.

Boba Fett ala the man with no name. Minimal dialogue and with a spaghetti western style soundtrack. Works for me.

That was always part of his mystique though. For Vader to warn a dude off from disintegrating someone, said dude has got to be pretty hardcore so the legend was made right there. I love those braids that he's got, they look like trophies or something. As always with these things, it's better to leave them in our imagination rather than witness the disappointing reality of the film itself.

Reputation alone is fine up to a point perhaps, but when the Galaxy's most feared Bounty Hunter has a lower kill-count than the average Ewok, imma gonna need some evidence of that in a Boba movie :).

I love that Disney are giving all these directors a chance to put their stamp on the franchise. We could see some really special things.

Boba Fett movie would be amazing

I always wondered why Vader stopped Fett from shooting Chewbacca in the scene in Empire when Han is being prepped for the carbonite.

God it would be my childhood dream if this film had a bunch of the other Bounty Hunters like Dengar, Bossk and IG-88 included. Doubt they would set it around the time of ANH/ TESB but that would be the cherry on the top

Just seeing, and more to the point hearing more of Slave I would float my boat. There's something about the sound of that engine and the sound of the laser canons on that ship that really do it for me. I might just sit and rewind the scene from Empire when he floats away with the rest of the garbage for a full two hours.

One of my favourite scenes also; but which version? 1980, 1997 or 2004?

I like the extra special effects, but I think the original version works best with John Williams tear-inducing score.

In all honesty I've lost track of what's what! The sinister music when you see Fett inside the cockpit is a constant though isn't it?

It is yes, but in the original version JW's score (a variant of Han & Leia's theme) reaches its crescendo just as the Star Destroyer soars into oblivion. A moment of pure cinematic orgasm.

In the other versions we get more space footage of the Falcon and Slave 1, but at the cost of the aforementioned scene's timing. It has never sat completely right with me.
