Hello Folks, some of you might remember this oldie - the dvd i mean not me-

Anyway just of late from roughly the bit where Tim Roth does the dirty to Eric Stoltz the screen pixelates like mad and deteriorates to the extent the movie is no longer watchable.

I have cleaned the disc in the usual way and can see no damage on it also gave the laser a clean but to no avail.
Any idea what the problem might be before Santa buys a replacement. No other problems with other discs.

Other info---the disc is a region 2, at start D.I.V. 4 followed by visa d'exploitation 87.907 then the FACT warning is titled Australia & UK.

Thanks in anticipation to anyone who takes the trouble to watch this movie, you will be rewarded by a dazzling cast. :)

Pity the UK version is cut but as for what the problem might be with the disc, does it freeze at all ? my Matrix disc originally started to pixellate then froze and got progressively worse until its now no longer watchable and its disc rot, this was a problem with early discs produced where the glue used to bond the 2 layers together i believe comes undone and gets into the fine tiny pits of the second layer of the disc where all the data is.

I fear your diagnosis of disc rot must be right and it does freeze, no x-file here then.
You mention the UK version is cut, what are the differences in other regions before i re-order. Thanks for your help.

I have the R2. I have no problems with the disc. It was one of the first discs I bought. Love this film.

What player do you have? I have always used Pioneer players.

Hello Ryan, my DVD player is a mod chipped Toshiba SD-210EB.
My first DVD player was a Samsung 709 which you could region change with the remote control and i thought was ahead of its time for its day.

First region 1 Run Silent Run Deep (a classic old submarine movie)
First region 2 The Shawshank Redemption

(I know the above is covered in another thread)
