BBC News - Bob Holness, former Blockbusters host, dies aged 83
And if I remember my trivia correctly Bob was the first person to play James Bond (on the radio)
Goldrun question........RIP please Bob.
indeed... in south africa...
also popular rumour that he played the trombone on baker street by gerry rafferty
I'll have a P please Bob. Oh how we laughed!
I use to watch Blockbusters almost everyday when it was aired - Bob was such a gentleman - sad to hear he has passed away - RIP Bob.
I'll have an E please, Bob.
But totally untrue.
Damn you beat me to it
oh yeah.... sax.. ;-(
lol, what a mistake, but i did know it was wrong!
I thought he was already dead.
I did too.
But realised I was confusing countdown with blockbuster and therefore confusing holness with whiteley.
A gent, and a hero from my youth.
He never talked down to the contestants on Blockbuster, a gentleman.
RIP Bob! A true great.
He had a great ending though. Dying peacefully in his bed at the age of 83 surrounded by family. What a way to go.
No, not even the infamous contestant with the dirty mind who thought an organism was something sexual...
